Hey!
My name is Sydney Culbertson. I’m an actor seeking to create art that enhances the human experience!
I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, and I spent three years in Norman, Oklahoma attending the University of Oklahoma’s Helmerich School of Drama.
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to act. I began performing on stage when I was 14 years old, and immediately fell in love with the craft. After doing plays all throughout high school, I had definite plans to get a performance degree in college. So, I packed my things and moved to Norman, Oklahoma! I then graduated from the OU Helmerich School of Drama with a BFA in Acting.
Upon graduating, I moved to NYC to pursue my career in theatre, film, and television. Check out my news tab for what I’m currently up to here in the city!
My thoughts on the craft
Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of entertainment in history. These stories moved people. Word would travel from person to person, community to community; information could be spread without lifting a finger, and one man's story could leave an impact on someone countries away. How extraordinary.
With the new age of technology, stories can be spread quicker than ever before. Stories of people who might not be heard otherwise now have a chance in the spotlight. I seek to use my talents to bring these beautiful stories to life, one by one.
Great art evokes the extremes in every emotion. It is both beautiful and ugly; powerful and weak; thoughtful and mindless. Finding harmony and acceptance in the duality of art are essential to understanding the human psyche and remarkable storytelling.
